What are some ';in style'; prom hair styles for medium/short hair?

Ok so I just found out for sure today that I'm going to prom most definitely with one of my good friends.I have medium to short hair its in kind of medium layers..the longest length sits right about on my shoulders.It's Brown and it is pretty thick,and has some body to it if I don't straighten it.So any ideas?What are some ';in style'; prom hair styles for medium/short hair?

so i don't know about you, but i'n not so into updos.

If i was you this i exactly what i'd do(i'll divide it into steps for ya ;) :

1. take the shorter of the layers in your hair , give them a few nice thin braids and bobby pin them back, hairspray so you won't get any lose strands.

2. take your curler and curl the rest of your layers OUT one by one. Don't start too close to your head.

3. Get a pretty delicate decorative depending on dress color, to put into your braids.

if you don't have bangs then part your hair to the side and get a thin headband and pull your hair back like this

if you DO have bangs, then split your part down the middle, and take the hair from your ears up to the part, but not the bangs, and pin it back like this
