My dress is kind of elaborate, so I want my hair to be on the simpler side. My hair is black and long, about 6 inches below my shoulders, with some long layers and some side swept bangs. It's straight, but takes curl well. Also, my face is between oval and round, if that helps. I'm open to updos, hair that's down, half-updos, whatever. Please give me ideas!Help! Prom hair style for a Filipina(Asian)?
I am j/w why it matters about your ethnicity??Help! Prom hair style for a Filipina(Asian)?
It matters what her ethnicity is because the same hair style on me might not look right in her. I am african american but i have light skin (or yellow which is what my friends call it lol) I am sure her skin color is even lighter. Also I have long curly hair like i might be mixed with something.(I dont know my dad so I could be.) Her eyes might be another thing. As most people know Asian men and women have slanted eyes. That contibutes to looks and hair styles. And as a serious joke lets say u thought she might have been some ghetto black girl you would have told her to add lots of grease and tones of heat (or at least i would have). Which probably wouldnt have turned out very well on a Filipino.
You could try and curl it a little, but still have it down:

or slightly curl it and then brush it out so it's wavy:

Or just straighten it completely and out in some clips or curled at the bottom::

I'm also asian and I think that you should put your hair up in to tight chignon (basically a tight and simple bun) and leave your bangs. if you feel like it, take out a lock of your hair from the bun and have your bangs just sideswept. HOWEVER, if your dress is strapless, you should leave your hair down. =)
u would look good if u had an updo that had the basket looking bun thingy. and then ur side bangs could be left alone
