Teacher said America but i think it started in africaDid the popular hair style afro start in America or Africa?
You do know that black's natural hair forms an afro shape, right? So, in reality it's not a hairstyle at all, it's just the way our hair grows. I have an afro, but that's just because I don't spend time putting it into a hairstyle like a ponytail or braids or anything, I just leave it alone and it's a natural afro. If you say it starts somewhere then maybe africa that's the center of the black population. I don't really get this question and it seems silly to me. How can the way your hair naturally grows ';start'; somewhere? This isn't a trend where we put stuff in our hair to make it into an afro. Your teacher sounds like a spazz. Ask her, in a regular conversation, what's the difference between afro the hair style and the way black people's hair naturally grows - afro.Did the popular hair style afro start in America or Africa?
Year i agree with Joss your teacher sound silly I don't do anything major to get my hair like that it's grow naturally like that when I wash it and leave it that's how it forms. It's just hair left ';out';. So of course it orginated from Africa,
I mean it was worn it Africa, but it was popular in America in the 1960's to even today. Both my mom and dad wore an afro lol. But it was popularized in America.
