What's the best cut for curly hair?

I have very curly hair, but I straighten it every now and then with the Chi. I've noticed when it's all one length the curls are weighed down and flat. I've had long layers, but that doesn't look good when my hair is straightened. What is a good style/cut I could try? I'm so bored with the same thing. What's the best cut for curly hair?
I would suggest a combination of short and long layers. Blended together I think if u leave it curly or straighten your hair it will look great. I wouldn't recommend one length as you mentioned. and don't go too short but start the first layer just above your shoulder and then continue from their...the hairdresser might also want to thin the ends out a bit for easier styling.
